net.com (NYSE: NWK) announced today that Viva GSM de Nuevatel S.A., the first GSM operator in Bolivia, will deliver voice over Internet protocol (VoIP) to its customers in the six largest cities in Bolivia using net.com's SHOUT media gateway platform. Nuevatel is also delivering prepaid phone card services to its customers using the IVR capabilities in SHOUT. In the near future, Nuevatel will also release enhanced voice services using SHOUT, including unified messaging, CENTREX, and web phone.

Nuevatel will use the integrated voice gateway and signaling support of the SHOUT platform to interconnect SS7/C7 signaling with leased T1/E1 circuits to connect all of its locations throughout Bolivia.

SHOUT combines the functionality of a media gateway, call control component, SS7/C7 signaling point, H.323/SIP inter-working device and media server in a single, compact chassis. SHOUT supports a wide range of voice and call routing features; conformance to the latest VoIP signaling and call control standards guarantees interoperability within multivendor VoIP deployments.
